Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, the trinity of supreme wisdom, are 'custodians' of the creation, preservation and destruction/transformation of the universe.
Shiva is the overseer of the aspect of destruction, i.e., transformation, essential to the cycle of life. In Hindu mythology, the dance of Shiva is a continual dance of creation and destruction involving the whole cosmos: the basis of all existence and of all natural phenomena.
In order for a transformation to take place, and for something new to be created, the old has to be destroyed, therefore transformed in a new form: to transform ourselves, we need to learn to create space, to let go of what is no longer needed, and let in what we truly need.
Even more, the dance of Shiva maintains the flow of universal energy - creation, destruction, recreation - the continuous fluctuation of life. We need to accept that transformation not only happens endlessly but more than that - it is fundamental for our being.
Accepting and living in harmony with the perpetual changes of life has helped me immensely on my path to personal and spiritual development. The only constant is change and we are blessed to experience the vital transformations that open up new ways, new spaces for exploration and growth.
